Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between CBR and CBZ?
Only the compression: CBR is RAR-packed, CBZ is ZIP-packed, both contain page images. RAR is proprietary and harder to extract, which is why CBR files cause the most trouble, converting to EPUB (or CBZ) makes the book universally readable.
My CBR won’t open in other converters. Will it here?
Usually, yes, a real unrar implementation runs server-side, and mislabeled files (a “CBR” that is actually a ZIP) are detected by content, not by extension. Genuinely corrupt archives are reported clearly instead of failing silently.
Does the conversion lose image quality?
Extraction is lossless; processing then resizes images for your chosen target, for a device preset that is the reader’s native resolution, so there is no visible loss on that screen. Without a device target, page dimensions are preserved.
Can I go CBR to CBZ instead of EPUB?
Yes, pick the CBZ (repack) preset and you get a clean ZIP-based archive with processed pages, handy for readers and apps that prefer comic archives.
