Kobo Manga Converter (CBZ to Kobo / KEPUB)

Kobo readers open CBZ files, but the stock experience is slow and the pages are not fitted to the screen. Converting to KEPUB, Kobo’s own enhanced EPUB flavor, gets you noticeably faster page turns, correct full-screen manga pages and proper right-to-left reading.

MangaConverter converts CBZ, CBR, ZIP, RAR, 7Z and PDF for every Kobo model, Clara HD / Clara Colour (1072 × 1448), Libra 2 / Libra Colour (1264 × 1680), Forma and Sage (1440 × 1920), Elipsa (1404 × 1872) and the rest, resizing every page to your device’s exact screen.

How to convert manga for your Kobo

  1. Drop your manga file Drag a CBZ, CBR, ZIP, RAR, 7Z or PDF onto the dropzone. Queue a whole batch of volumes if you like.
  2. Pick your Kobo model Choose your Kobo from the device profiles, the output defaults to KEPUB, the format Kobo renders fastest.
  3. Preview and adjust Check every page on a simulated Kobo screen before converting. Manga mode sets right-to-left page progression; spread and border options are right there too.
  4. Convert and copy over USB Download the .kepub.epub file and copy it into your Kobo’s storage over USB. It appears in your library with full KEPUB features.

Color Kobo models

On a Clara Colour or Libra Colour, enable force-color so color pages survive processing instead of being flattened to grayscale.

Calibre users

If you manage your library with Calibre, the converted KEPUB drops straight in, no kepubify step needed, the file is already a native KEPUB.

The conversion engine is Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), despite the name, it has first-class Kobo support and has been the community standard for years. MangaConverter runs it for you in the cloud, no Python install required.

Frequently asked questions

Why KEPUB instead of plain EPUB or CBZ?

KEPUB is Kobo’s enhanced format: page turns render noticeably faster, reading stats work, and comics display full-bleed. A plain EPUB works too, but KEPUB is simply the better experience on a Kobo.

How do I get the file onto my Kobo?

Connect the Kobo over USB and copy the converted file anywhere into its storage (keep the .kepub.epub double extension). Eject, and the book shows up in your library.

Does right-to-left manga reading work on Kobo?

Yes, enable manga mode during conversion and your Kobo turns pages right-to-left, matching the original Japanese layout.

Which Kobo models are supported?

All current and past models: Mini, Touch, Glo, Aura (HD/H2O/ONE), Nia, Clara HD / 2E / Colour, Libra H2O / 2 / Colour, Forma, Sage and Elipsa, each with its true screen resolution.

Is this free?

Yes, the free tier covers several conversions a month, no install and no command line. A paid plan lifts the limits for series binges.
