Auto-fill manga metadata from AniList

Typing series, author and volume metadata by hand for a long manga run is tedious enough that most people skip it, and their e-reader library shows it. The planned AniList integration removes the typing: enter a title, pick the right series from the results, and the cover, author, series name and tags fill themselves from AniList’s open database before the file converts. We are being straight with you: it is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.

AniList is the natural source for this: a community-maintained manga database with clean romanised and native titles, cover art and complete author credits, reachable over an open API. The planned flow queries it, you confirm the match, and the volume ships with a proper record instead of a bare filename.

What the AniList integration will do

  1. Type the title once

    A search against AniList would surface the series with cover thumbnails, so picking the right one takes a glance even for same-named titles.

  2. Pull the record

    Series name, author, cover art and tags come from the AniList entry; the volume number comes from your file. No field-by-field typing.

  3. Embed it in the output

    The fetched record would embed into the converted EPUB, KEPUB or CBZ, so the volume groups and displays properly on the device.

  4. Until then: convert with clean names

    The converter is live today and preserves sensible filenames through to the output, which is what most readers shelve on.

Honesty first

A lookup that guesses the wrong series and stamps twenty volumes with it would be worse than no metadata. The feature arrives with a visible confirm step, and not before it works.

The live converter helps now

Conversion itself is live: real device profiles, live preview, clean output files. Well-named inputs give your library most of the ordering that metadata would formalise.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pull AniList metadata here right now?

Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. The integration is planned. Today the practical path is consistent filenames before converting, and the planned metadata editor and this lookup arrive together on the roadmap.

Why AniList and not another database?

AniList has an open API, clean series records with both romanised and native titles, and active community maintenance for exactly the catalogue manga readers convert. It is the shortest honest path to good records.

Will it track my reading progress on AniList too?

That is not the first milestone. The first milestone is metadata: series, author, cover and tags into the converted file. Progress sync is a separate idea with its own privacy questions, and we will not bolt it on quietly.

Will you announce when it is ready?

Yes. When the lookup ships it goes live on this page and the tools hub links to it. You can vote for it on the roadmap in the meantime.

MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, for the conversions that are live today. The AniList lookup is a planned enrichment step around that pipeline, and this page will host it honestly once it works.
