Manga right to left on Kindle and Kobo: set the reading direction before you convert漫
A Kindle or Kobo does not know a manga reads right to left. The direction has to be written into the file, and when it is not, every page turn goes the wrong way: a tap on the right edge moves backwards, and a two-page spread that was split for the small screen shows its halves in the wrong order. This page presets manga mode, which writes right-to-left page progression into the output and splits spreads right half first.

Drop a CBZ, CBR, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, PDF or EPUB, pick your exact Kindle or Kobo, and the converted file opens with the correct direction on the device. The preview shows the split pages in reading order before you convert, so a mirrored spread is caught on screen rather than on the reader.

How to convert manga for right-to-left reading
- 1
Drop your manga file
Drag in a CBZ, CBR, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, PDF or EPUB. A whole series can queue at once; each volume converts on its own with the same direction.
- 2
Manga mode is already on
Reading direction is preset to right to left. The page progression is written into the file, and any double-page spread the splitter cuts is ordered right half first, the way the printed book reads.
- 3
Pick your device
Choose your Kindle, Kobo or reMarkable profile so every page is sized to that screen. The direction setting is the same whichever device you pick.
- 4
Check the preview, then convert
The preview walks the output page by page in reading order. If a spread shows the wrong half first, the direction is wrong for that file; switch it before converting. Download EPUB, MOBI, KEPUB or CBZ and load it on the reader.
The direction lives in the file, not the device
A converted EPUB carries its page progression in its own metadata, so a right-to-left file stays right to left on every Kindle and Kobo it is copied to, and a left-to-right file stays left to right. Re-convert to change it; nothing on the device can.
Manga is the default here
Manga mode is on for every manga conversion by default, so a file converted from the homepage already reads right to left. This page exists for the searcher who was burnt by another tool and wants the setting named, visible and on before the file goes in.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my manga read backwards on my Kindle?
The file was built without a reading direction, so the Kindle assumes left to right. The pages are in the correct order inside the archive; the reader just turns them the Western way. Converting with manga mode on writes right-to-left progression into the file, and the same tap on the right edge now goes forward.
Does the Kindle have a setting to flip the direction instead?
Not for sideloaded files. Kindle Store volumes carry the direction the publisher set; a personal document only has what its converter wrote in. The Kobo is the same. The direction has to be in the file, which is what this page does.
What happens to double-page spreads?
When the splitter cuts a wide spread into two upright pages, manga mode puts the right half first. With the direction off, the left half comes first and the spread reads mirrored. The order of ordinary single pages never changes either way.
What if my manhwa or comic reads left to right?
Turn manga mode off before converting; the output then reads left to right like any Western book. The special case is a left-to-right book whose pages were packaged in manga order, which is what the reverse page-turn direction page covers.
Does webtoon mode respect the direction?
No. Webtoon mode always reads left to right and the direction control is disabled while it is on, because a vertical strip has no right-to-left page order to preserve.
Conversion runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine manga readers have trusted for years, hosted here with a live preview so there is nothing to install. Manga mode is KCC’s own manga-style option.
