Panel View options for Kindle
Panel View is live: convert for a Kindle with the option on and a tap zooms into the first panel, then walks you through the rest. What the current version does not let you choose is the walk itself. Virtual panel view steps through the page as four quarters, top left first; some pages read better with the side halves first and then the top and bottom. And the newer panel view dropped the Kindle page turn animation; readers who miss it can have the older behaviour back. The planned options expose both switches. We are being straight with you: it is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.
What works today: Panel View on or off, preset on the Kindle Panel View page, with the default quarter order and the newer panel view. The engine underneath supports both planned switches; what is planned is the control in the studio.
The Panel View options are coming soon
These options are planned, not live yet. Use Panel View with the default order in the meantime.

Side panels first
Virtual panel view steps left half, right half, then top and bottom, instead of the four quarters. Better for pages drawn as two tall columns.
The older panel view
Keeps the Kindle page turn animation between pages, which the newer panel view skips. A matter of taste, so it is a switch rather than a default.
Per device, not per volume
Both choices live with the Kindle profile, so once you have picked the walk you like, every volume converted for that Kindle gets it.
Until then: Panel View as it is
The Kindle Panel View page presets the option on. The quarter order and the newer panel view are what every conversion gets today.
Honesty first
Panel View behaviour differs between Kindle firmware versions, and we ship a switch only after checking it on a real device, not from the option list alone.
The live converter helps now
Panel View, split spreads and right to left reading are all live for every Kindle profile, and the Kindle Panel View page presets the option for you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the panel order right now?
Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Panel View itself is live with the default quarter order; the order switch and the older panel view are the planned part.
Which Kindles support Panel View?
Every Kindle since the Paperwhite 2 and the Kindle apps on iOS and Android. The planned options change the walk inside Panel View, not which devices have it.
Why would I want the older panel view?
For the page turn animation, which the newer panel view skips. Some readers find the plain cut between pages abrupt; the switch gives them the animation back.
Will you announce when it is ready?
Yes. When the options ship they appear next to the Panel View toggle and this page hosts them. You can vote for them on the roadmap in the meantime.
MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, which added both Panel View switches in version 12. Passing them from the studio is planned, and this page will host the options once they work.
