MOBI extras: both files from one run, filed as a book
MOBI output is live for the older Kindles that need it. Two small things around it are not. If you own an old Kindle and a new one, you convert twice today to get a MOBI for one and an EPUB for the other; the planned both files option produces the pair from a single run. And a MOBI copied to a Kindle lands under Personal Documents, apart from your bought books; the planned book tag marks it so the Kindle files it with the library instead. We are being straight with you: it is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.
What works today: MOBI output on the MOBI pages, EPUB everywhere, and a second conversion when you need both. The engine underneath supports both planned options; what is planned is passing them from the studio.
The MOBI extras are coming soon
These options are planned, not live yet. Convert once per format in the meantime.

MOBI and EPUB together
One conversion, two downloads: the MOBI for a Kindle that predates EPUB support and the EPUB for everything else, with the same pages and metadata in both.
Filed as a book
The MOBI carries the book tag instead of the personal document tag, so the Kindle lists it with your library, sorts it by series and shows the cover in the grid.
Per Kindle profile
Both options live with the Kindle profile, so a reader who always wants the pair does not tick a box on every volume.
Until then: two runs
Convert once with a MOBI output and once with EPUB. The queue keeps the settings between runs, so the second conversion is one format change away.
Honesty first
The book tag behaves differently across Kindle firmware generations, and we ship it after checking on real devices, not from the option list alone.
The live converter helps now
MOBI output, EPUB output and every Kindle profile are live, and the queue keeps your settings so a second run in the other format is one change away.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get MOBI and EPUB from one run right now?
Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. MOBI and EPUB are both live as separate outputs; converting twice is the current route.
Which Kindles still need MOBI?
Kindles that never got EPUB support through Send to Kindle, which means the older generations when files go on by USB. Every Kindle from the Paperwhite 5 onward reads a converted EPUB.
What does the book tag change on the Kindle?
Where the file is listed. A personal document sits in its own section; a file tagged as a book joins the library with the books you bought and takes part in series grouping and collections.
Will you announce when it is ready?
Yes. When the options ship they appear with the Kindle profiles and this page hosts them. You can vote for them on the roadmap in the meantime.
MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, which can emit MOBI and EPUB together and tag a MOBI as a book. Passing those options from the studio is planned, and this page will host them once they work.
