Split, rotate or both: spread controls
A double page spread on a small screen has two honest answers. Split it into two upright pages, which keeps the text large, or rotate it sideways so the whole spread fills the screen in one piece, which keeps the composition. Today the studio splits. The planned spread controls add the rest: rotate instead, or rotate and split and get both, pick whether the rotation turns left or right, put the rotated copy before the split halves or after, and shift the split by one page when the spreads fall on odd pages. We are being straight with you: it is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.
What works today: the split spreads toggle cuts every spread into two pages in reading order, and the Pages tab lets you split or join a single spread by hand. The engine underneath knows every option on this page; what is planned is the control in the studio.
The spread controls are coming soon
These controls are planned, not live yet. Split spreads with the toggle in the meantime.

Split, rotate, or both
Split is today's default. Rotate keeps the spread whole and turns it sideways to fill the screen. Both outputs the rotated spread and the two halves, for readers who want the overview and the detail.
Rotation direction
Left or right, so the top of the spread lands on the side you hold the reader from. Right to left manga and left to right comics want opposite turns.
Rotated copy first or last
With Both selected, choose whether the full spread comes before its halves or after them, and whether the split is shifted by one page when spreads start on odd pages.
Until then: the split toggle
Split spreads is live and preset on the split spreads page. For one spread you would rather keep whole, the Pages tab joins or splits it by hand.
Honesty first
A rotate option that turned spreads the wrong way for right to left manga would be a new bug, not a feature. The controls ship with the direction previewed.
The live converter helps now
Split spreads, right to left reading and the per-spread split and join in the Pages tab are all live, and the preview shows every half before you convert.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate spreads instead of splitting them right now?
Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Splitting is live and the per-spread split and join in the Pages tab is live; rotation and its direction are the planned part.
When is rotating better than splitting?
When the spread is one drawing across the fold, such as a landscape or a fight panel. Rotated, it fills a Paperwhite screen at a readable size and the composition survives.
What does shifting the split do?
Some volumes have their spreads starting on odd pages instead of even ones. The shift moves the pairing by one page so the halves line up with the real spreads.
Will you announce when it is ready?
Yes. When the controls ship they appear next to the split toggle and this page hosts them. You can vote for them on the roadmap in the meantime.
MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, whose spread rotation options already travel with every job. The studio controls for them are planned, and this page will host them once they work.
