Kobo Comic Converter: Comics to KEPUB for Any Kobo

A Kobo comic converter turns the CBZ, CBR or PDF your comics come as into a KEPUB your Kobo reads natively: every page resized to the exact screen, lettering kept legible, spreads split or rotated so they stay readable. MangaConverter does that in your browser, free, with a live preview before you convert.

The engine underneath is the open-source Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), which despite its name has first-class Kobo support and has been the community standard for years. Pick your model, Clara HD or Clara Colour, Libra 2 or Libra Colour, Sage, Forma or the 1404 x 1872 Elipsa, and every page is rebuilt for that exact panel.

How to convert comics for your Kobo

  1. Drop your comic in

CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, PDF and EPUB all work, up to 20 files at once and 1GB each, unpacked right in the browser.

  2. Pick your Kobo model

Choose the exact model so pages are rebuilt for its true resolution. Every generation is in the list, from the Mini and Touch to the Libra Colour and Elipsa.

  3. Check the live preview

Converted pages render before you commit: if a panel looks cramped or a double-page spread split badly, adjust and re-preview in seconds instead of re-converting blind.

  4. Download the KEPUB and copy it over

Transfer over USB into the Kobo’s storage and it appears in your library. KEPUB means Kobo’s native reader handles it, with fast page turns and working stats. Files auto-delete after 24 hours.

One build per screen

A Clara HD is 1072 x 1448, a Libra 2 is 1264 x 1680, an Elipsa is 1404 x 1872. A file built for one looks soft or shrunken on another, which is why the converter asks for your exact model rather than exporting a single generic file.

Spreads on a portrait screen

Double-page spreads can be split into two pages or rotated to use the full screen sideways, and the live preview shows exactly how each spread will come out before you convert.

Frequently asked questions

Why not just put the CBZ on the Kobo?

Kobos do open CBZ files, but they render the raw print-resolution scans: oversized pages, tiny lettering and slow page turns. Converting rebuilds each page for the Kobo’s actual screen and wraps it as KEPUB, which reads dramatically better.

KEPUB or EPUB for comics on a Kobo?

KEPUB. It opens in Kobo’s native reader with the comic-optimized viewer, faster page turns and working reading stats. The Kobo profiles output KEPUB by default, with plain EPUB available if you want it.

Does it handle color comics?

Yes. On the color models (Clara Colour, Libra Colour) color pages stay in color while still being resized and sharpened for the panel. On grayscale Kobos, gamma correction keeps shading from going muddy.

What about manga on a Kobo?

Manga mode keeps right-to-left reading order; this page’s sibling, the Kobo manga converter, covers that angle in depth. Western comics keep normal left-to-right reading by default here.

Is it free?

Yes. The free tier covers several conversions per month, the engine is open source, and nothing installs. Heavy users can upgrade, which pays for the conversion servers.

The conversion engine is Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), open source, community-standard and with first-class Kobo profiles. We run the genuine engine in the cloud and credit it openly; the hosting, queue and live preview are what we add.
