Start a chapter by picking its page
Chapter bookmarks already ship: open the Metadata tab, type the page each chapter starts on and a title, and the converted file carries real chapter entries. The missing half is finding that page number. Today you scroll the Pages grid, count, and type. The planned Start a chapter here verb lives on the page itself: open the page menu on the first page of a chapter, pick it, and the bookmark appears in the Metadata tab with the right page already filled in. We are being straight with you: it is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.
What works today: the Pages tab shows every page as a thumbnail with its number, and the Metadata tab takes a page number and title per chapter. The planned verb joins the two so the number is never typed by hand.
Start a chapter here is coming soon
This verb is planned, not live yet. Type the page number in the Metadata tab in the meantime.

Pick the page, not the number
Every thumbnail in the Pages grid gets a Start a chapter here entry in its menu. Choosing it on page 37 creates a chapter bookmark at page 37.
Name it in place
A title field opens right on the thumbnail, prefilled with Chapter and the next number, so a volume of eight chapters is eight clicks and eight short edits.
Stay in step with the Metadata tab
The bookmark is the same entry the Metadata tab lists, so renaming or deleting it in either place updates the other, and removing a page shifts the bookmarks after it.
Until then: type the page number
Read the number under the thumbnail in the Pages tab, then enter it with a title in the Metadata tab. The output is identical to what the planned verb will produce.
Honesty first
A chapter that silently pointed at the wrong page after a removal would be worse than typing. The verb ships when the bookmark follows the page it was set on.
The live converter helps now
Chapter bookmarks by page number are live for every output format, and the Pages tab shows the number of every page so the lookup is a glance, not a count.
Frequently asked questions
Can I click a page to start a chapter right now?
Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Chapter bookmarks are live in the Metadata tab by page number, and the Pages tab shows which number each page has.
Where do the chapters show up on the reader?
In the table of contents of the EPUB, KEPUB or MOBI, and in the ComicInfo bookmarks of a CBZ, exactly as the typed bookmarks do today.
What happens when I remove a page before a chapter start?
The planned verb keeps the bookmark on the page you picked, so it moves with it. Typed page numbers in the Metadata tab do not move today, which is one reason the verb is worth building.
Will you announce when it is ready?
Yes. When the verb ships it appears in the page menu and this page hosts it. You can vote for it on the roadmap in the meantime.
MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, and the chapter bookmarks you type today reach the output through it. Marking chapters from the page grid is a planned studio verb in front of that engine, and this page will host it once it works.
