Works for comics too!

Set any page as the cover of your comic before converting

A converter takes the first image in the archive as the cover. When that image is the scan group’s credits page, a blank, or the inside front cover, your library shows that instead of the artwork. The Pages tab fixes it in one tap: open the grid, pick the page that should be the cover, and choose Set as cover. The converter treats that page as the cover and the output file embeds it, so the Kindle or Kobo library shows the right picture.

There is a second route for a file that has no good cover page at all. The metadata lookup finds the series on AniList or the Grand Comics Database™ and offers its cover art; accept the suggestion and the converted file carries that cover. Both routes work on CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR and 7Z; the Pages tab is read-only for PDF and EPUB.

How to change the cover

  1. Drop the archive and open the Pages tab

Drag in a CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR or 7Z. In the studio, the Pages tab shows every page as a thumbnail; the current cover is marked.

  2. Pick the real cover

Tap the page that should be the cover and choose Set as cover from its menu. Any page that is not removed can be the cover; the credits page you took out cannot.

  3. Or take the cover from the lookup

In the Metadata tab, search the title. When the match carries cover art, it is offered as a suggestion next to your file’s current cover; accept it and that cover is written into the output.

  4. Convert and download

Pick your device, convert, and download EPUB, MOBI, KEPUB or CBZ. The chosen cover is embedded as the book cover, which is what the device library reads. Files auto-delete after 24 hours.

Per file, by design

A cover page index means nothing on another file, so Set as cover applies only to the file you picked it on and never copies across a batch. For a series, set the cover on each volume; the thumbnails make it a few seconds each.

Cover first, then crop or fill

Once the right page is the cover, the cover options decide how it sits on the screen: crop a wide wraparound cover to its front half, or fill the device screen with it. Those live on the manga-cover-not-showing-kindle page.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my comic show the wrong cover on my Kindle?

The converter used the first image in the archive, and in a scan release that is often a credits page or a blank rather than the cover. Setting the right page as the cover in the Pages tab tells the converter which image to use, and the Kindle library reads the embedded cover from the file.

Does setting the cover remove that page from the book?

No. The page is still read in its place; it is also written as the cover image of the file. If you want the cover to appear only once, that is a reading preference the reader handles, not something the file changes.

Can I upload my own cover image?

Not at the moment. The two routes are any page of the file, or the cover the metadata lookup finds for the series. If the cover you want is an image file, add it to the archive as its first page before uploading and it becomes the cover by default.

Will the cover still show after Send to Kindle?

The cover is embedded in the EPUB, which is the part that is in your hands. Whether the Kindle library displays it also depends on how the file arrived and on the device firmware; the manga-cover-not-showing-kindle page walks through those cases and how to fit the cover to the screen.

Does CBZ output get a cover too?

Only when Smart cover crop is on: CBZ has no cover metadata of its own, so the converter adds a cover image to the archive as part of that option. For EPUB, MOBI and KEPUB the cover is always embedded.

Conversion runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine comic readers have relied on for years, hosted here with a live preview so there is nothing to install. The cover you pick is handed to KCC as its cover image; cover art from the Grand Comics Database™ (https://www.comics.org/) is used under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence.
