Read your CBZ files in the browser

Sometimes you do not want to convert anything, you just want to open the CBZ you have and read it. The planned reader does that in the browser: drop the file, get a clean e-ink-style reading view with proper page turns, right-to-left mode for manga, and no software to install. We are being straight with you: the full reader is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.

The closest live thing is the converter’s preview, which renders every page of your file in the browser before you commit to a conversion, with processing applied. It is built for checking rather than reading, but it already proves the pages render where the reader will live.

The browser reader is coming soon

This feature is planned, not live yet. The conversion preview shows every page of your file today.

What the browser reader will do

  1. Open your file instantly

CBZ, CBR and the other archive formats, opened straight in the tab. No install, no account needed just to read a file you already have.

  2. Read it properly

Full-page view with keyboard and tap page turns, right-to-left mode for manga, and a spread view for double pages. A reader, not a thumbnail strip.

  3. Check before you send

The reader doubles as the final check before converting or transferring: read a chapter, decide it is the right scan, convert the volume in the same flow.

  4. Until then: the preview shows every page

The live conversion preview already renders your full file in the browser today. It answers "is this file good" even though it is not built for a cover-to-cover read.

Honesty first

A reader is judged in the hand: page-turn latency, zoom, memory on 400-page volumes. It arrives here when it reads well, not when it merely opens a file.

Your files stay yours

Like the converter, the reader works on files you upload, and uploads auto-delete after 24 hours. It is a tool for your own library, not a catalog.

Frequently asked questions

Can I read a CBZ here right now?

Not cover to cover, and we will not pretend otherwise. The reader is planned. Today the converter preview renders every page of an uploaded file, which covers checking a scan but is not a comfortable reading view.

Is this a site for reading manga online?

No. It reads YOUR files, the CBZ and CBR archives you own. There is no catalog and there will not be one; the reader is a tool for your own library, like the converter is.

Will it work on phones and tablets?

That is the plan: the reader is a web page, so anything with a browser gets the same reading view, which matters most on the devices that cannot install a comic app.

Will you announce when it is ready?

Yes. When the reader ships it goes live on this page and the tools hub links to it. You can vote for it on the roadmap in the meantime.

MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, for the conversions and the page rendering that are live today. The browser reader is a planned view over that same rendering, and this page will host it honestly once it works.
